My name is Katherine McDowell and I am a New Orleans artist.
I graduated from New Orleans Center for the Creative Arts in 2023 and Attended Interlochen Arts camp for the summer of 2023.
My art varies from Acrylic painting, Digital art, and many others.

Artist Statement
I make surreal paintings that stretch my imagination with the use of vibrant colors and a strong drawing ability. With my use of sometimes unusual subjects and complex color palettes, I am able to expand the limits of reality.
My goal is to make art that feels like an escape from a sometimes difficult reality. With the use of my own characters I am able to show a wide range of human emotions and allow viewers to join.
I like to collage different visual inspirations to create a whole new image. I take the colors from one or two images to make my palette, then my style inspiration in another, and concept as two images combined to make something new. I like to use illustrative realism in my work, making all my paint strokes smooth and visually pleasing.
