Katherine 'Katie' Adams Greer was born in the Santa Ynez Valley, a rural town located off the Santa Barbara central coast of California. She is a self taught artist from a long line of family artistry. Her primary mediums include oil acrylic and tempura paint, oil and chalk pastel, charcoal, pencil, graphite, Indian ink and computer graphics. She jokes that she does "everything except watercolor". Her favorite pieces that she does are black and white, Katie uses a white charcoal to accent the highlight of the piece she is drawing and form the life and character in a realistic manor. As a child, Katie was always around animals, she had sort of an extra sense for them, and they felt comfortable in her presence. She loved to draw them and still does! Animal Science became her interest in high school and later in college. While in college she found a job as an intern on the Alm Ranch in Hyattville, Wyoming working for the co-owner of Coca Cola. She fell in love with the western life and stayed in Wyoming for eight years before moving to Montana. She loved painting on site plein air of the beautiful scenery that surrounded her everyday ranch life, from the red cliffs, to the cattle and horses that roamed them. Montana brought her art to the city of Billings doing live shows and drawings where she sold her prints and usually donated a portion of her earnings to local charities. Music is also a big passion of Katies, she loves to sing, write poetry, and music. She now resides in Santa Ynez, California where you can find her in her studio painting and singing to some of her favorite music and songwriter friends, some of her greatest inspirations!
