I recently earned a PhD in Genetics & Genomics at Duke University. Working in the Lew Lab, I have been investigating how cells detect and respond to gradients of chemical signals. This process is critical for many types of cells to perform their functions, including immune cells responding to wound sites, gametes locating each other for fertilization, and cells that migrate during development. Using budding yeast a model system, we are uncovering novel strategies cells use to accurately decode chemical signals.
