I have been an active member of Girl Scouts for over a decade contributing to my community. I have volunteered in animal shelters, collecting food for food banks, sorting through clothes at clothing banks, and cleaned up Lititz Springs Park every year.
For my Bronze Award, I was voted president/leader of the group and we made gift baskets for new owners at the pet shelters. We baked dog treats, hand-made dog toys, and created a coloring book for kids with advice on how to care for your pet.
As for my Silver Award, my goal was to collect bottle caps and recycle them into a green bench. Lancaster does not accept bottle caps anymore and I knew hundreds of caps were being wasted. I saw plenty of recycled green benches in Philadelphia so I decided to collect over 250 pounds of bottle caps to create one.
I am currently an Ambassador and am working on my Gold Award.
In Lititz United Methodist Church's Youth Group, I have read the Bible and realized that events back then are relevant to today. I help out with church events including children's Christmas services, fall harvest, Easter Egg Hunt, Winter Bazaar, and Simply Christmas. These events truly bring our community together by providing food and activities for families to enjoy at no cost. I volunteer to set up certain displays or games, handle food, and clean up afterwards.
In November 2021, I participated on my school's powderpuff team. I had the special position of being a line backer though I was the shortest one on the team. Happily, my team (Junior Class of 2023) won our game.
For the last two summers, I have been a volunteer laborer with the Appalachia Service Project. I have worked on many projects such as adding a tin roof, building a deck, putting on siding, and installing new hard wood floors. With this non profit organization, the main goal is to keep houses warmer, drier, and safer.
This July, I've had the amazing opportunity this summer to be a Christian Camp Counselor at Gretna Glen for a week. With being in charge of over 28 kids, I was fortunate to have such an amazing group of counselors by my side.
