Kate Varcoe is from a small town in Southern Ontario, Canada. An avid fantasy reader, she started writing fantasy as a teenager. Her debut novel, When Fate takes Wing, will be out in 2026.

Kate was heavily inspired by Tamora Pierce, as she owns all of her books and reads them at least once a year.

Growing up on a farm her imagination flourished as she played outside in the bush.
