Sports have always been a huge part of my life, but softball was where I decided to really hone my skills. I played at Robert Morris University in Pennsylvania. My freshman year was a standout moment for me, earning First Team All-League honors in the NEC. But as much as I loved the game, an injury forced me to step off the field sooner than I expected.
I moved to Raleigh to attend Campbell University School of Law, thinking I was on track to become a personal injury lawyer. I enjoyed law school (I know... crazy) and even spent some time studying abroad at Cambridge University, diving into Shakespeare, Trial Advocacy, and the English Legal System. But, while on the trip, it was one experience at SoulCycle in London that I had a moment of clarity. This experience in the fitness community was nothing short of transformative, and it set me on a path I never could have predicted.
Coming back from England, I made the tough decision to leave law school behind and pursue a career in fitness. I became a cycling instructor in Raleigh, and for a year, I had the privilege of being a lead instructor at a local studio. It was incredible to see how fitness could connect people and change lives. Wanting to expand my skill set, I got certified as a personal trainer through NASM and started working as a trainer and strength coach at Oak and Iron Fitness. The team there was all about continued learning, and it was through that environment that I truly learned what it means to be a coach—not just teaching movements, but inspiring and supporting people every step of the way.
Now, I’m living in Wilmington, North Carolina, where I coach cycling at Recess by Bevin Prince and continue to grow my career in fitness. I’ve found a real sense of belonging in the local fitness community here, and every day I’m excited to help people discover their own strength. When I’m not teaching, I’m at home with my wife, our animals, and the cozy space we’ve made for ourselves in Sunset Park. The journey to where I am today has been anything but linear, but it’s been incredibly fulfilling. I’m just grateful for the opportunity to do what I love every day and to be part of a community that values health, growth, and connection.
