DELUXE LP "Got It Out (Almost Completely)" OUT OCTOBER 4, 2025!!
"Kat and the Hurricane is like a storm on the horizon.
You see it coming, and when it hits, you better be ready."
- Teri Barr, Maximum Ink
Mainstays of the Wisconsin music scene, trans synth rock/indie-pop band Kat and the Hurricane have honed their craft of catharsis. Guitarist/vocalist Kat Rhapsody, keyboardist/vocalist Benjamin Rose, and drummer Alex Nelson (all they/them) have made waves across the Midwest since 2017, driven by a bombastic sound, strong connection to community, and genre-defying songwriting. In the year following the release of their debut full length album, Got It Out, the trio toured their electric live show to sold out rooms across the Midwest and East Coast, racked up 275k+ streams on their 2024 single, “Caffeine & Alcohol,” and received five Madison Area Music Association Awards, including Song of the Year 2025 ("Caffeine & Alcohol"), Pop Song of 2025 ("Caffeine & Alcohol"), and Pop Album of 2025 (Got It Out).
Kat and the Hurricane's 2024 debut LP, Got It Out, seamlessly weaves synth rock, pop punk, indie-pop, alternative rock, indie-folk, and hip-hop across ten irresistibly hooky tracks that deliver a sonic punch, wave after wave. Drawing on varied influences from 2000s pop/rock (The Killers, Walk the Moon, Paramore, Weezer, Jimmy Eat World) to today's sapphic music legends (Tegan & Sara, girl in red, MUNA, Chappell Roan), the trio speaks to the growing pains of mental health and trauma healing. From the raucous stadium rock anthem, “Therapy,” high-energy pop-punk confessional “Caffeine & Alcohol,” and lush indie-pop closer, “Smoke,” the album illustrates that, even with some healing and a lot of getting it out, pain never truly goes away - it simply shifts.

Kat and the Hurricane's debut LP, released in October 2024, represents a new high in the trio's craft of catharsis. Seamlessly weaving elements of synth rock, pop punk, indie-pop, alternative rock, indie-folk, and hip-hop across ten tracks, the band speaks to the growing pains of mental health and trauma healing.
Kat and the Hurricane's 2021 breakout release, The Sorry EP blurs the lines between rock, pop, punk, and alternative in its use of 80s synths, indie rock chords, chilling harmonies, and introspective lyrics.
After finding bandmates Ben and Alex, the trio recorded their second album, Libra, released in February 2020. A lush and evocative 6-song EP, Libra marked a critical turning point for the band and a departure from Miles Away's plucky folk sound. The band re-released Libra as a deluxe edition with bonus tracks in 2024.
Kat and the Hurricane's 20217 debut EP, a solo indie-folk album penned and performed by singer/guitarist, Kat Rhapsody.
