I have always loved taking pictures ever since I can remember. It wouldn't be a shock to catch me with my moms old Canon taking pictures of my two dogs out in the backyard. I didn't start taking it super serious until sophomore year of high school. I took every photography course offered at my high school and graduated as a completer in photography. Fortunately, I was blessed with the BEST photography teacher known to mankind who helped me establish my foundation in this business. Her wisdom and dedication is incredible. Seriously can't thank you enough, Mrs. Steele.
One thing led to another and my great uncle heard about my interest in photography and ended up gifting me a Nikon D90 that he had for a long time yet hardly used. This camera, though probably considered ancient to some (haha), was one of my greatest blessings. At first I spent many nights frustrated because its settings and display were so foreign to me. It lacked any and all modern aspects of todays cameras. However, I have since grown attached to it, and it holds a special place in my heart. It challenged me. It sustained me. It helped me get where I am today, and I will never ever take that for granted.
I guess you could say 2020 was my launch year #thxcovid. My mom was scrolling on Facebook and came across a photographer who was doing front porch portraits for families in her hometown. My mom encouraged me to do the same for folks in my neighborhood. Saying yes to this may have been the scariest yet best thing I've ever done, right in line with moving off to college, but that's a story for another time - I think a few more tears were shed with the college one haha. Anyways, I had two years of photography classes under my belt at the time, but little to no experience with family portraits. But I did it anyway. Fast forward a year and I'm taking pictures of my best friends in their cap and gowns, a couple of proposals, maternity photos, etc! By 2022, I started second shooting for the most talented human (love ya Katie ;)) photographing weddings that are beautiful beyond belief, and now I am taking on weddings of my own! Oh man. Thank you Jesus. Just thank you.
All my love,
Kasey
