About the Institute

Maulana Azad National Institute of Technology (MANIT) established in 1960, is the premier institute for technology in Central India. MANIT is one of the leading institutions of national importance in the area of technical education. Established with the objective of developing a Centre of Excellence in central India, it aims at becoming a multi-disciplinary center for technical education by strengthening both teaching and research activities besides contributing to the needs of the rural community, society, and industry at large.

About the Department

The Mechanical Engineering department was established in 1960. The department is continuously striving to achieve excellence in education, academic, and industry-oriented research as well as consultancy work aiming service to society. The major research areas include Machine Design, Fluid & Thermal Sciences, Manufacturing, Materials Science, and Industrial Engineering. Currently, the department has been offering B.Tech in Mechanical Engineering, M. Tech in five specializations, and Doctoral Programs. The students of all tiers have access to both expert faculty members in the department and institute-supported industry engagement opportunities.

Aims and Objectives

Enabling research scholars

· To understand the basics of the CFD solver, mesh generation, and post-processing.

· To analyze the complex problems involving fluid-fluid, fluid-solid and fluid-gas interaction.

· To develop programming skills to solve industrial engineering problems.

· To reduce the dependency on commercial CFD software of high cost.

· To learn the open-source post-processing tools used in research work.

Highlights of the STTP

· Discretization techniques for N-S equations.

· Algorithms to solve N-S equations and scalers transport.

· File structure of OpenFoam directory.

· Blockmesh utility and mesh conversion.

· Solution of laminar and turbulent flow.

· MHD, multi-phase, and compressible flows.

· Programming for simple equations in OpenFoam.

· Result visualization using ParaView.

Registration Charges: Rs. 1000/- for PG/Ph.D. scholars.

Travel (up to AC-III), accommodation, and food will be provided to the 25 selected participants as per the SERB-Karyashala norms.
