I am fortunate to be doing what I love - pursuing research. It is a privilege to be doing research at the Centre for Information Technology and Public Policy, working with my advisor, and interacting with other research scholars working on interesting projects looking at technology and society from diverse disciplinary lenses including Science and Technology Studies (STS), and Information Systems.
I thrive in a positive, collaborative environment and have tried to contribute to building a community of designers and researchers at our institute. I have been really fortunate to collaborate with the faculty advisor and an enthusiastic bunch of students. Do check the website to know more about the events happening at our IIIT Bangalore ACM SIGCHI Student Chapter.Β
When not (over)thinking about my work, you can find me listening to songs and podcasts, and pondering over relatable memes.
My work philosophy is inspired by the principles of Buddhism. During my internship days at Nokia, Chennai I came across the concept of Kaizen: which emphasizes working towards continuous small improvements. Getting into a research program furthered this resolve of small incremental changes and celebrating small wins.
I regularly document my learnings as they contextualize the trajectory of a project. Beyond immediate work outcomes, I believe it is critical to unpack the processes, and frameworks to incorporate and build upon in the future.
I have done my education from multiple locations across India and that has given me the opportunities of exploring my interests in unique ways. This includes Reading, Playing Indian Classical instrument - Tabla, Traveling and Writing. Writing as a passion has stuck with me and is now an integral part of my identity.
Outside research, I like writing poems. I started writing poetry while I was in grade 8 and have been writing in Gujarati, Hindi and English. I consider it as a form of self expression, one that offers reflection. I have written on quite a few themes - essentially things that make us humane - Identity, Hope, Friendship, Love, Generational Trauma. More recently, I have been writing about Cyborg Shala - where I explore how technology and the self interact and are intertwined in our everyday lives.Β
I also occasionally write blogs on Medium and put up YouTube videos. These different channels help me express and reflect on my everyday experiences.
