Vrindavan is a very sacred abode of the Lord. In that divine land, it is very appropriate that we maintain a good consciousness. Here are some useful instructions that will help you along.
Consciousness
Place of pilgrimage yields a special advantage for a devotee in quickly advancing in one’s spiritual life. Lord Krishna lives everywhere , but still it is very easy to approach Him in holy places of pilgrimage because these places were/are inhabited by great sages.
In this world, Lord is situated in different Vigraha forms( Deities) in the temples just to decrease the unwanted activities of the conditioned soul and increase one’s spiritual activities . Particularly in India, there are many temples throughout the country.
Devotees take advantage of them and go to see the Lord at Ayodhya, Jagannath Puri , Vrindavan, Prayag, Mathura, Hardwar and Vishnu-Kanchi. When devotees travel to these places and see the Lord ,they become very happy in devotional service.
To maintain proper consciousness, apply the following tools:
Chant 16 rounds of Hare Krishna Mantra everyday
Strictly follow the 4 regulative principles
Avoid coffee, tea and soft drinks
Eat only prasadam
Avoid eating outside food / food cooked in train or lounge
Avoid reading newspapers, magazine or any other mundane literature
Avoid unnecessary mundane talks
Safety
The locals are not very refined in their upbringing and at times may behave rudely. Tolerate their approach and avoid any altercations.
Safeguard your luggage. Wear inexpensive footwear. Avoid carrying any valuables. Vrindavan is very crowded during Kartik. Thieves know this too!
Oops! The monkeys take away your spectacles. Happens all the time. Carry a spare one always. Avoid in Vrindavan. We know a vendor with same day delivery.
Attire
Tilak atleast on Forehead is essential.
Dhoti and Kurta for men. Saree for women.
Men can wear simple casuals as well.
Women should follow Indian dress code.
Respecting Locals
Do not enter into argument with any local priests in the temples.
Do not criticize the local people or the system of worship.
Do not get disturbed by those who follow you and insist on some donations.
Group Discipline
Always be with the group. Don't venture into lone trips.

Crucial Info
Please abide by the schedule. If you delay, everyone else will be waiting for you. This is great inconvenience.
Be together with everyone else. There is every chance of us missing the group if we loiter around. Some of the places are filled with a lot of crowd. It is impossible to stay together and coordinate if group discipline isn't followed.
We have assigned Commanders to help you stay in track and be on time for the next leg of each journey. They are asked to be strict in their job. Please do not mind their force. They are authorised to apply pressure.
Do not carry excess cash or costly gadgets in novel areas. There is no guarantee of safety anywhere.
Lord Krishna advises us to tolerate heat and cold and thus be liberated from the dualities of nature. Even as we will try our best to avail you facilities that ensure you aren't affected by adverse weather, there will be numerous occasions when you have to tolerate the extreme temperature. Take it as an austerity and let it pass.
Do not get into any argument with the locals. Remember that we are outsiders for them. They will not appreciate our concerns no matter how deeply we try to educate them. Just avoid eye contact with strangers. Be immersed in Krishna Katha.
Please note that the organizers have oozed a lot of sweat just to ensure that you get premium facilities at optimum pricing. Since the trip fare is highly subsidized, it is a big challenge to keep all the expenses within the budget. Therefore, please do not expect grandeur. We are offering the best we can within the scope of the budget.
Each of you have been assigned a particular service. Please talk to your service lead and learn more about your role. Even if limited, your services have a significant impact on the trip and your spiritual growth. If you are the service lead, please talk to SatSank for more info on your vertical.
Temples/Monuments protected by ASI have a mandatory ban on any foreign source that can potentially tamper or damage the intricate carvings on the site. Do not cause any harm to the centuries' old architecture. They are beacon lights of our glorious heritage. Do not be a cause of the demise of our own cultural edifice.
If you are parents of kids who are noisy, please have some common sense to keep your kids in silent mode when the katha or kirtans are going on. They need to learn some discipline and you are the first teacher. It is horrendous to watch kids jump around and blare like urchins. What are we educating our kids anyway?
