Overview of the Project:
The present study aimed to evaluate the development and efficacy of a hair serum containing silk-water for improved hair health.
Key Highlights of the Project:
Conducted literature review and product landscape survey, identifying a research and market gap for the use of silk water in hair care formulations, establishing the novelty of the project.
Developed a natural hair serum formulation using silk water, aloe vera, hibiscus extract, glycerol, and essential oils to address dryness, frizz, and hair damage.
Conducted comprehensive evaluations including physical characterization, pH measurement, homogeneity, viscosity testing (Ostwald viscometer), spread-ability (parallel plate method), and ex-vivo hair texture studies.
Compared performance with a marketed product, where the optimized formulation (F3) showed enhanced detangling, reduced frizz, and improved hair smoothness with superior cosmetic acceptability.
