As we landed to a new year and a brand-new decade, however, the hardships remain the same for women in India and around the world. In many countries, women are achieving equality in health and education. Yet we can’t see enough progress when it comes to gender equity in fiscal opportunities.
Every year women’s day is celebrated with major goals, new guidelines and much more but no significant changes are visible. Karthikeya Rupakula is a CA by profession and he believes in encouraging women. He has more than 25 years of working experience as chief financial officer and chief operations in various renowned organizations across the world. According to him, this world needs better leaders and decision-makers in the form of women. Because they have the power and talents to undertake everything in the household and in the communities in a better way.
Many studies have confirmed that women need a stable platform to support them to save money, develop financial literacy and invest in activities that help them in generating income. Empowerment is nothing unique or special. It is a privilege that enables them to enjoy life and avail of the benefits from the resources. It provides them the ability to manage their life and take care of well-being. These days, NGOs, governments and social workers are working to focus on enhancing their learning skills and help them build potentials, self-esteem, and access to resources. In India, we can find many schemes that are pushing women from every class and strata for empowerment. Some of the most acclaimed plans are Beti Bachao Beti Padhao, Mahila-e-Haat, STEP, Sukanya Samriddhi Yojna, etc.
Karthikeya Rupakula says that Indian women needs much more than these schemes. In the year 2001, the government of India passed the national policy for the empowerment of women and named it as the year of Swashakti. It’s been twenty years, but the condition of women in an Indian family remains the same.
He says that women need proper inclusion in society, similar to the men. They need accountability and the right information. We can’t forget that women are an important section of our society. And it is a truth that empowered women to empower women effectively. Additionally, he suggests ways to empower women globally:
Place women as leaders and give them the power of decision making
Provide more opportunities for women in every field
Show appreciation to the women around you and let the first one be your mother
Stand up for women’s rights and help them in the crisis. As millions of girls are enslaved to child labor, trafficking, child marriage, and exploitation. Better counseling and education can help them.
Support women in setting up a new business.
The list is endless, they need safety, nutrition, cleanliness, gender inequality, and better healthcare to survive and lead a simple life. Karthikeya Rupakula strongly agrees that when women support each other, it is the most beautiful thing in the world. He says that the real light comes from within, and nothing in this world can have the power to challenge an empowered woman.
Karthikeya Rupakula is an extraordinary brain with skills to merge finance and management. Being involved in different domains, he keeps women empowerment as a priority. At present, he is a consulting CFO and COO at Rupakula and Partners.
