The air tightness and rainproofing of windows are tested in accordance with the Norwegian standards NS-EN 1026 and NS-EN 1027, respectively. They are subsequently classified according to descriptions given in the standards NS-EN 12207 and NS-EN 12208.

Data from 1,130 tests performed on a variety of windows demonstrate that the corners of a window are vulnerable points. As such this represents the biggest challenge facing manufacturers trying to produce rainproof windows. Defects in joints in frames and sills represent the most common leakage pathways, followed by gaps that allow water to penetrate between the sill and the frame.

I came over this issue after updating my mothers version of Libreoffice. Really grateful for the solution of changing windows to nynorsk (which also happens to be her preferred language). Now everything is working well.

Glass panesfirst appeared in churches from the 12th century. The windows were small tobegin with. Norwegian cathedrals, on the other hand, were built with largeleaded glass windows. They were produced in Norway by local workshops.

These windowswere useful until the second half of the 20th century. By this time, more womenhad entered the workforce, and the disadvantages of the windows became moreapparent. They were complicated and time-consuming to wash.

The buildingwas originally built in the 1770s. It was modernized from the 19th centuryonwards. The businessman Carsten Anker owned the building at the time. He beganto replace the small window panes with large, modern windows.

Scandinavian windows are becoming more and more popular. This is determined by their great functionality, as well as very good thermal insulation. In addition, the construction and a unique opening system, which is very different from standard windows, make the choice even more attractive. What are Scandinavian windows and why is it worth buying them?

Has anyone on the forum used Nordvest windows? They are made in Norway and have a hub in Perth. However, I can't really find much about them online. We have a self-build project running at West Coast of Scotland and received a reasonable 3g Alu-clad quotation from them (also had quotes from Rationel and NorDan but higher). Any experience with the Nordvest, please share. Thanks

A bit late I suspect, but I ordered Nordvest windows and doors last year, after a toss up between Nordvest and Rationel, almost same price point to be honest, but the chap in Perth won me over. I have triple glazed everything with Alu cladding. The windows and doors are good, but a word of caution, the majority of mine had issues with the Alu cladding not meeting at the mitres, which was fixed where possible by the Perth office contractor (I'm in Inverness) albeit some just will not meet, which results in the bright galvanised fixing plates being seen through the gaps. The worse issue I had/have is that one of my frames paint started to bubble up, instead of replacing the frame straight away they have tried to repair, but this too blistered up, they are now going to attempt another repair. The guy in Perth is great but the Norwegian factory management staff have basically ignored me, despite my best efforts to have a meaningful conversation with them about the issues. Its a shame because the windows could be fantastic, they are solid and I have no doubt will last for years, but the after sales customer ethos in Norway is very poor.

All external elements, including roof projections and moldings, have been eliminated. What remains is a sharply defined silhouette, where windows are either flush with the faade cladding or set into recessed openings. The focus here lies on utilizing high-quality materials, solutions, and details that require minimal maintenance.

The lower level encompasses the main entrance, a dual-purpose entry with a laundry room, two bedrooms, a bathroom, and a kitchen. Meanwhile, the main floor comprises a living room, master bedroom, additional bathroom, and a storage room. Abundant large windows usher ample natural light into the living spaces, establishing a strong connection between the interior and exterior.
