Hi, i'm Karlotta

I am a multi disciplinary Icelandic artist based in Berlin. In my 20's I have lived abroad and traveled all over the world. This provided me with a new point of view to really witness and take in the incredible landscapes Iceland has to offer. 

I focus is on capturing the essence of the energy of Iceland through a mixture of different textures, creating abstract landscapes focused on the stillness of time. 

I wanted to find way to deliver the heightened emotion of vastness and silence that identifies the nature. An element that is so overpowering after having spent time traveling the busy SE-Asia and Berlin. To capture a silence that is so confronting that it demands to be faced. 

From this i developed a different viewpoint, capturing the timelessness and steadiness of the mountains. Focusing on the emptiness between the mass, the endless space.  The point where mountain hills meet to form a door towards the distance. The strength of a mountain range holding up the delicateness of the endless unknown distance. 

My paintings are all made using acrylics, modelling paste and other acrylic mediums along with sand.
