You cant expect that your current automatic backuptool will still work if you do a major upgrade of the ESXi.

It is highly recommended to check compatibilty of ESXi - Backup-tool before you try an upgrade.

Uranium Backup may not have been updated to work with ESXi 6.7

I realize this is a old post buthave the same issue with Uranium backup and esxi 6.7 having the connection error. Yes it might not be supported but I think its has to do with the cert not being passed back to esxi. I can open up a browser and goto ESXI on the server that is running the uranium. Through IE security would allow to connect. But if I go through Mozilla and accept the warnings I can browse to the ESXI. Thinking if I export the cert somehow from ESXI and import it to the uranium server that it might work.

I have an ESXi 5.1 host server with a Server 2012 VM server which I am monitoring remotely that hosts the email application Domino. I was using a third party VM backup software called Iperius which I initially liked. However, I noticed that since I got the software 2 months ago, it was not deleting the snapshots after it was done backing up the VM. This is my fault for not checking if the snapshots were being deleted.

Getting Application Consistent snapshots is very important for the recoverability of files and application data on a VM. During a backup, Commvault instructs VMware to take a VSS-enabled snapshot, which will in-turn tell the file system and any applications to write any in-memory change to disk with a temporary I/O pause.
