Karen Gourley Lehman has been teaching Photography and Graphic Design at Marblehead High School since 2005. Prior to MHS she was at Salem High School for five years where she taught photography, digital imaging, graphic design, portfolio class and fundamentals in art. From 1986 to 2000 she was on the faculty at Montserrat College of Art in Beverly as Assistant Professor of Graphic Design. From 2000 to 2008 Ms. Lehman was on the summer faculty of the Maine Media Workshops, a world-renowned conservatory for photographers and filmmakers, as Photography instructor in the Young Artists Program. In the summertime, since 2009, she has taught Photography to all ages at Featherstone Center for the Arts in Oak Bluffs MA.
She has been included in “Who’s Who Among America’s Teachers” more than once, and her students have consistently won awards for their photography and graphic design work over the past thirty years. Her undergraduate degree is in Graphic Design and her Master of Fine Arts is in Photography. Before becoming a full-time high school instructor she ran a Graphic Design + Photography studio north of Boston, with a broad range of clients. A lover of learning, she continues attend workshops, and to produce, exhibit and receive awards for her own work.
