As an artist with mixed British and Sierra Leonean heritage, she has been exposed to the diverse duality of the cultures she was surrounded by, particularly that of Nigeria. Karen went on to study 3D Design and Craft in Brighton, and received a BA with Honors (2017). Over the years till date she has been in the Art Education industry and has used this to inspire other young artists of the future.
Karen Gager's paintings explore the world that she exists in as a woman and the conscious or unconscious connection to nature, the female body and the flux between Western and African culture. While her art explores these themes, she expresses them through various media and processes in paintings, illustrations and photography. She makes art that manifests particular emphasis on color, pattern and lines.
