I've come to think of generative AI art as a collaboration between a guide artist (in this case me), a tool (AI software), and an unwitting group of artists whose artwork at some point made its way into the AI training database (often without artist consent). While the lack of consent is fraught with ethical hazards that vex me, it is worth noting that artists have been copying eachother's art for as long as humans have been making art.
What is Art anyway? How much of it is process, and how much the ideas?
My Process: Images were created using Midjourney AI software with a series of human generated prompts, followed by many iterations of (human image selection followed by additional AI generated variations). In some cases further editing was done by human in Apple Photos software. In some cases images were created by combining one of my hand-made paintings with AI-generated images. Images were upscaled with Gigapixel software prior to printing to enhance resolution.
