Comparing Modes

Click this link to access and download the interactive tool that will create a bubble map after you enter modal data into the table. The spreadsheet will then auto-generate a bubble chart that visualizes the frequency, duration, and relative foregrounding of different modes that you've located in your data. With a bubble map of modal interaction, you can compare modes to one another to see what's prominent. You can also look at the patterns of interplay among modes to see where participants' attention is being focused and what's ongoing but beneath everyone's notice.

This walkthrough will explain how to create a bubble chart using Excel if you would like to customize graphs and build your own chart.
