Karen Restaino is one of the directors of The Fourth Wall Company and the librettist for the musical Bye-Bye Boobz, which is set to launch in September 2026. She began her writing career as a playwright, with her debut stage play, a Victorian period drama titled A Guinea Too Much, being successfully performed at the Mansfield Palace Theatre in 2003. Additionally, her TV drama Age Concerned was shortlisted for Channel 4’s The Plays The Thing in 2006.
Karen returned to education after her initial professional experiences. She studied for a BA in Theatre Studies at Rose Bruford College in Sidcup, South London, and then earned a PGCE at University in her hometown of Sheffield. After completing her education, she returned to writing. Her first novel, The Ringmaster, reflects her fascination with the art of theatre and her passion for storytelling. She is currently awaiting the release of her second novel, Weight In Gold, which is set for a cracking Christmas release in 2025.
