नमस्ते, Let's Talk!
About Kapil
Kapil is a young PhD at the Indian Institute of Technology, Kharagpur, India. He holds a Masters (MTech) degree from the Indian Institute of Technology, Roorkee, India.
His research area focuses on the intersection between transportation and environmental analysis. His main expertise lies in the modelling of road transport emissions and urban air quality, as well as evaluating population exposure to air pollution. Kapil is interested in capturing the interactions between the daily activities and travel patterns of urban dwellers and the generation and dispersion of traffic emissions in urban environments. He works in a MUST Lab that aims to develop the next generation of transport infrastructure professionals, who will be equipped with a holistic understanding of the impacts of transportation on liveability.
Additionally, Kapil's research focuses on investigating gender differences in travel behaviour in India. He aims to understand how those differences reflect in health outcomes such as injuries and chronic diseases. Kapil is also exploring interventions that can reduce gender inequalities in the travel domain.

Projects
Perception of commuters towards air quality in Delhi - At IIT Roorkee [2020-2021] - Completed.
Comparing the inhaled dose and exposure experienced by the commuters inside the vehicle with reference to the outside ambient condition - At WRI India [2021 - 2022] - Completed.
Comprehensive Development Plan of Talcher, Orrisa - At IIT Kharagpur with Mahanadi Coalfields Limited [May 2022 - July 2022] - Completed.
Application
This research aims to develop an routing application with the least air pollution exposure route (LEAP) and least carbon emission route (LCO2) with route forecasting capabilities. By utilizing advanced predictive models, commuters will have the ability to anticipate air quality conditions along different routes at future times, enabling them to choose the most optimal and healthy path proactively.
Objectives:
Construct algorithms for finding the LEAP and LCO2 paths.
Develop an interactive routing web application to act as an interface between user and server.
Use the predictive model, constructed algorithms, and routing APIs to forecast and show routes on the web interface to users.
Analyse the results for percentage decrease in air pollution exposure and document the results.
