Hello! My name is Kanu Priya Singh. I am an Assistant Professor of Interactive Design in the Department of Technical Communication and Interactive Design at Kennesaw State University.

My research interests span Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and distributed collaborative work and learning. I focus on information and interaction design, user-centered design of digital technologies, and distributed collaboration in workplaces and higher education. My research methods include qualitative and mixed-method approaches, such as interviews, surveys, and focus groups, and system-oriented research methods, such as lab studies and usability tests to explore the design of digital technologies. Recently, I have started exploring participatory design methods from a multi-stakeholder design perspective. Specifically, I aim to understand the larger socio-technical configurations in which stakeholders, anticipated end-users, and technologies intersect. I investigate ways to amplify the voices of stakeholders and end-users in creating digital technologies.

I earned my Ph.D. in Information Science and Learning Technologies from the University of Missouri in Columbia, MO, in May 2023.  Before joining Kennesaw State University, I worked as a Postdoctoral Associate at XR Pediatrics Lab, housed in the Yale Center of Immersive Technologies at Yale School of Medicine.

My inclination toward studying human behavior and its relationship with technology, especially within organizations like higher education and workplaces, motivated me to earn a Master of Science in Information Systems from Drexel University in 2011. I then pursued a Ph.D. with a focus on user-centered design. Before my Ph.D. program in 2019, I worked as an Information Technology process consultant at Accenture Solutions in India from 2012 to 2018. I also hold a Bachelor of Engineering in Electronics and Telecommunications from Pune University, India.

I am passionate about empathy and creativity in my work. I own a blog where I share my poems and short stories. My hobbies include indoor gardening - I love to watch the plants grow. I also have a bird feeder in my front yard and find joy in watching birds flutter and hover around the feeder, vying for a spot to enjoy their meal!
