Biography

Mr Kanu Chakraborty is an Assistant Librarian at Shreenivas Deshpande Library, Indian Indian Institute of Technology (Banaras Hindu University, Varanasi, U.P, India. Presently pursuing a PhD from The Indira Gandhi National Open University, Main Campus, New Delhi.

He holds a Bachelor's degree in Computer Application and a Master's degree in Computer Application, and also has a Master of Science in Library and Information Science (MS in LIS) from the Documentation Research and Training Centre (DRTC), Indian Statistical Institute (ISI), Bangalore, India, 2017. He has worked as visiting faculty at the Department of Library & Information Science (2018), University of Mumbai, Main Campus, Mumbai, India. Before joining the IIT (BHU), Varanasi, he worked with Air India Express (Mumbai) as an Officer-Technical, National Centre for Biological Science (Bangalore) as an Assistant Engineer, Indigo (Agartala) as a Network Engineer, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV-Khowai) as a Faculty cum System Administrator. Also, Mr Chakraborty was elected as a Standing Committee member of the IFLA Reference and Information Services Section (2023-2027) and the ASSIST South Asia Region (2025-2027).

Besides the above academic and corporate activities, he is involved in games, sports, and cultural programs. He enjoys playing Football (IIT football team member), Athletics, Cricket, and Badminton. He loves visiting places, meeting people, organising events, and chatting on various topics, starting from cultural aspects to academics. He is quite active on social networking sites like Facebook, Google+, Twitter, and LinkedIn.
