Rishab Shetty's film Kantara is one of the most successful films of 2022. The film, which was initially released in Kannada, went on to become a box-office hit. Following the same, the makers of Kantara released the movie in multiple languages. Post the success of the film, Rishab recently attended Agenda Aajtak 2022, where he reacted to people mocking the scream from the film. At the event, which was held in Delhi, Shetty said people shouldn't make fun of it since it can hurt other people's sentiments.advertisementRISHAB SHETTY ON SCREAM FROM KANTARARishab Shetty was asked about the scream from Kantara becoming the 'most downloaded ringtone' on the internet. To this, the actor said at Agenda Aajtak 2022, "People are talking about it and there is a lot of negativity about it. Uska mockery ho raha hain, people should not make fun of it. Because vo samaaj ka belief aur sentiment rahega so unlogo ko hurt nahi karna chahiye."

The actor further revealed the scream wasn't dubbed by anyone. "We didn't call anyone to dub for it. It's not just a voice, vo dev ka ek statement hain aur emotion hain. It is like a verdict. People believe and log samajh sakte hain kya bol rahe hain aur kya statement aa raha hain. It is a ritual. In the Gulliga sequence, vo aawaz same nahi hain. There are variations according to different emotions," he added.RISHAB SHETTY ON GULLIGA SEQUENCE

Many people are telling that KANTARA is average and I respectfully would not agree with that. Yes the storyline is simple(or avg as they call it). They don't realise the amount of layers and depth that has been put into Kantara. Rishab Shetty has probably spent more time on perfecting the script than on filming the whole film. The reason why the story is simple/predictable is because it is taken from the stories of Shiva and Vishnu which we have listened when we were young. If you didn't realise this and are critiquing the movie then its a shame. There is a reason many professional critiques have praised this movie and that's because they can understand the underlying themes which kantara explores and have executed it beautifully along with its technical prowess. If you want to understand some of the depth of the movie then watch Thyviews YouTube video which I watched later and my respect towards Rishab Shetty grew ten fold. He explains the hidden overlapping of stories of Panjurli and Guliga in the movie with the ancient story. The other themes which the movie explores is casteism in the society and greed of humanS in the land which is explained well in a podcast video from YouTube which I will link below. One of the complaints of ppl about this movie is how Shiva treats Leela and I agree it was not the right thing to do BUT this story is based in 1990 and I would argue that movies in that showed more vulgar things that what is considered poor treatment today. One another thing I want to mention here is that movie is so culturally rooted that even if you know Kannada you will miss many things when you watch it for the first time. Rishab Shetty has captured the life of people living that village at that time so brilliantly that you need to rewatch it in Kannada with subtitles once again. This might be lost in dubbing. The core essence of the movie is tied to the cultural references and if people are missing out on understanding that then I would suggest them to rewatch the movie and try to understand it once again and watch the YouTube videos which I have mentioned below. I believe that Kantara is the best movie of 2022 in terms of acting, Screenplay, Cinematography, Music and BGM, STORY TELLING, employing multiple hidden themes and ofcourse the climax.

Rishab Shetty's Kannada film, Kantara has registered phenomenal growth at the box office. With the entire nation talking about it, Kantara is an example of a script done right. The performances, music, and climax have left everyone spellbound. And if there's any other thing that has been a special attraction about the film is the special scream of Daiva roopam. Speaking about how mastered he is said it's something he has seen since childhood.Related Storyentertainment

The actor and director said, "See it's a real thing that happens in our kola. We call it Daiva Kola, so there it's not just a scream, it's a statement. It's a verdict, it's an emotion so it's a blessing. So whatever I witnessed in our Daiva Kola since childhood that power of nature enters inside a human body and what happens after that is the reaction I tried to recreate."

Rishab admits they were hard to perform: "Those are not just ordinary screams. They convey more than pain and protest. They are the sounds reaching out to divinity. I had to work really hard on getting it right. Even the slightest slip up would have offended the worshippers."

Just like Knatara, this movie is also directed and written by Rishabh Shetty, who is also an actor. He was something else when I watched the first movie in the theater. Usually, I am more the type of guy who screams at the amazing scene and talks too much during the movie, but Kantara is something else. This movie made me silent from the start.

Kantara thus turns around this symbolic three-way conflict between the secular state (represented by the unbelieving forest officer), the faithful majority (the descendants of the tribe), and the transitional remnant of the old order (the extractive landlord who nonetheless abides by community rules). Each of these forces comes with its own perception of the land; if the officer is armed with the objectivity of maps and the landlord with acreage information, the villagers have a more empirical, corporeal relation to their dwelling place. The expanse of land gifted to them in the prelude is determined simply by the reaches of a primal scream that the deity emits and which becomes a recurring formal element in the film.

Nearly 40 hours of recording were used for the film's background score, for which Loknath excited him more than the songs, as "there is immense scope for experimentation". He combined flute with dollu instrument, so that the sound of dollu would dominate the flute music, and also used Australian tribal instrument didgeridoo which served as the "key in producing the scream-like sound" which was enriched by blending with kazoo. For the Daiva dance, he used Damaru and gaggara, and also hired noted sound recordists Arun and Shine to capture and produce that sound.[1]

The Bhut kola is being performed and Varah roopam plays in the background and there is pin-drop silence in the hall with the audience at the edge of their seats. The screams, the makeup, the expressions, and the camera work, are all top-notch. This is the best part of the film and is quite spectacular. Too little, too late. 006ab0faaa
