Does anyone else feel that the big budget kannada cinemas are horrible to watch? The stories are pathetic and make no sense, direction is horrible, comedy is worse than whatsapp jokes, fights look comical, item songs get jazzier each day, even the props team goes overboard and puts a dino skeleton in a medical college. Any criticism offends the die hard fans who start abusing or stating that you don't have taste. "When ironman hits a villian you clap but when our hero hits a villian you find it funny" this is the standard reply. Story is either mix of 10 stories, hero survive on being macho. Hero can't enter the screen in a non macho way. There are some gems in small budget movies which truly tell a story one can relate to but they don't find commercial success. What is worse is die hard fans say the movie is "super" and ask you to watch only for you to realise that you were fooled. I feel these people promote movies out of pure love for kannada movies but such recommendation turn people further away from kannada movies. I see movies in other languages with subtitles and feel sorry for the state kannada cinemas has reached. I have old dvd of old kannada movies which I would still watch a thousand times than watch any of today's movies. Would anyone today buy a dvd of the latest movie and keep it for the next generation? We have become a first day first show collection oriented industry. Where are the good directors? Where are the good screen play writers? Where are the good stories?

Watched KGF-2, damn what a movie. One could say it's a benchmark for mass movies, As many people state here, didn't find kgf 1 that much great or found it slight cringey with over the top dialogues, but this chapter , I could feel the goosebumps every 15-30 minutes , I am waiting to re watch it again next week. I never thought kannada movie industry was that good first of all, felt like all the movies had over the top dialogues, usual stalker romance, illogical stunts, with predictable stories which ought to make us cringe. After watching KGF-2 , I searched for some kannada movies, man I was in for a surprise.

Hey I dint know you are a Kannadiga or is it that your parents knew this language and used it to converse at times? I am a kannadiga but as I have grown up in Mharashtra I hardly knew kannada. Then I moved to Mlr ad Blr and picked up decent kannada. I have watched Mungaru Male and it dint really live upto the hype but the end was touching

Well I am a keralite grown up near the borders of Karnataka. My mother is from Karnataka so I watched all those old movies with her. And now my husband is from Karnataka so I watch latest movies with him. ?

The recently released Kannada action-thriller is off to a flying start at the box office. Helmed and written by Rishab Shetty, Kantara surpassed the likes of RRR and KFG: Chapter 2 to emerge as one of the highest-rated Indian movies on IMDb.
