Integrated Photonics Lab Advisor: Professor Amy Foster

• Realized 10 Gb/s all-optical NAND/AND logic gates using four-wave mixing Bragg scattering (FWM-BS) in highly nonlinear fiber (HNLF).
• Demonstrated low-power frequency conversion via FWM-BS in hydrogenated amorphous silicon (a-Si:H) waveguides with 15% on-chip conversion efficiency (70% internal efficiency) and greater than 4 nm bandwidth; demonstrated 1.25 Gb/s all-optical logic gates in a-Si:H waveguides.
• Simulated nonlinear processes such as four-wave mixing and supercontinuum generation in waveguides and fiber using Matlab.
• Achieved 23-dB four-wave mixing efficiency enhancement in a 10-μm radius a-Si:H ring resonator compared to a 4-mm long a-Si:H waveguide.
• Working on deterministic quantum logic gate and on-demand source of single and entangled photons in a-Si:H waveguides and microring resonators.
