• Establishing a new Korean-style water culture, inspecting facilities managed by the Korea Water Resources Corporation’s operating and management agency, and conducting research on urban water culture that resonates with citizens. A survey was conducted to understand perceptions of water culture and explore ways to improve it. 

(K-Water)Revised Guidelines for Preparation of Comprehensive Plan for Water Demand Management(24. 1. ~ 24. 8. )

• It aims to analyze various water management policies from different countries, explore water demand management measures suitable for Republic of South Korea, and propose a revision of the 4th Water Demand Management Basic Plan. This will lay the policy foundation for water efficiency in Republic of South Korea.

  • Characteristics of Population Outflow in Declining Population Areas(Received the Best Paper Award)

    • This study empirically analyzes the employment characteristics and income changes of individuals who migrated from population-declining areas in Korea, using full census data. Unlike previous studies focusing on income increases after migration, this study highlights how employment characteristics and destination types influence income changes. Results show that younger, male, and non-homeowning individuals were more likely to migrate, often moving from manufacturing to service industries. Income growth was highest for those relocating to the Seoul metropolitan area, while in other regions, employment stability played a greater role. The study emphasizes the need for policies that enhance employment quality, such as promoting regular employment and long-term job retention, to sustainably support population retention in declining areas.

  • Case Study on Space Reutilization Responding to Demographic Changes - Focusing on Vacant House Using Appropriate Technology

    • Increasing number of vacant houses in aging areas of South Korea is a growing concern. This study explores the use of smart technology to utilize vacant houses and address local issues in aging regions. This study analyzed domestic and international cases and found that smart technology can create social value, contribute to sustainable local development, and address social issues. This study proposes the utilization of vacant houses through smart technology and the promotion of local innovation through collaboration among various stakeholders.
