Principal Investigator

Minyong Kang, M.D, Ph.D

Dr. Minyong Kang is an Associate Professor at the Department of Urology, School of Medicine, Sungkyunkwan University, a Clinician at Samsung Medical Center, and an Adjunct Professor at the Department of Health Sciences and Technology, SAIHST, Sungkyunkwan University.

He obtained his M.D from the Seoul National University College of Medicine in 2005, and received a PhD in Medical Science from the KAIST in 2014. He completed a residence of urology in Seoul National University Hospital (SNUH) in Feb, 2010. He also completed urological oncology fellowship program in SNUH from 2014 to 2016. His clinical specialty is a genitourinary cancer and minimally invasive surgery, particularly robotic surgery, such as robotic partial nephrectomy and robotic prostatectomy.

As a physician-scientist, his research focuses on the precision oncology by exploring integrative cancer genomics and tumor organoids, particularly in advanced genitourinary malignancies. He has an expertise in analyzing and interpreting genomic data for clinically focused questions, such as the mechanisms of drug resistance to targeted therapies and immune-check point inhibitors. After establishing the Kang Lab (Translational Genomics and Bioinformatics Laboratory) in 2017, he is leading his research team as a Principal Investigator.
