The earth is home to a vast number of species living in a variety of environments. These diverse organisms have morphologies, characteristics, and behaviors adapted to the environment and living conditions in which they live, and it is believed that these characteristics have evolved through a complex process of natural selection. Ecology is a field of study that seeks to observe in detail the organisms that live in the natural world, to reveal the full picture, and to explore why they live the way they do and why they have evolved the way they have.
