Background:

My research interests include the systematics, biogeography, and morphological evolution of darkling beetles in the subfamily Blaptinae (Coleoptera: Tenebrionidae).  My Master's focus was the systematics and taxonomy of North, Central, and South American darkling beetles in the tribe Opatrini (Blaptinae). I am currently investigating the phylogenetic relationships and historical biogeography of the tribe Platynotini with Dr. hab Marcin Kaminski by using targeted enrichment methods and museomics.  My thesis topic is the revision of the subtribe Eurynotina--an African subtribe of tenebrionids which displays ovoviviparity. My work is also supported by a grant from the National Science Centre, Poland (OPUS 19 #2020/37/B/NZ8/02496) entitled: “High-throughput DNA sequencing on historical collections of beetles: phylogenetic studies among Platynotini (Tenebrionidae)”.
