Bajuin Waterfall, which is located in Sungai Bakar Village, Bajuin District, Tanah Laut Regency, has a beautiful natural panorama.
In the 1980 -1995 era, the Bajuin Waterfall tourist attraction was one of the mainstays of tourist destinations in Tanah Laut Regency. Its existence is also quite well known by the people of South Kalimantan (Kalsel).
Even though it has a coolness typical of mountainous areas and there are beautiful waterfalls. Unfortunately, this tourist attraction has slowly decreased over time, even suspended animation.
Udin (50), a local resident who also served as the person in charge of the Bajuin Waterfall Tourism counter, told that the tourist destination's suspended animation was due to the absence of a regulatory system beforehand. So that makes the condition of the facilities in the area become not maintained.
So the tour was somewhat quiet or in suspended animation because at that time the structure was not clear, many facilities were neglected," said Udin, Saturday (30/10/2021).
Udin continued to tell, behind the beauty of the panorama, Bajuin Waterfall also has mystical stories told by local people.
"Such as tangible appearances or resembling a daughter, grandmother and grandfather who appear in the waterfall tourist area," he said.
In fact, Udin said, not a few visitors claimed to hear the sound of children crying, noisy atmosphere and people calling when they returned from the waterfall on their way to the parking lot before sunset.
"And there are also those who say the statue of the bride and groom here moves on its own if you stare at it for a long time," he said.
That said, the story of the old people, for those who have spiritual abilities (can see spirits), the area of Bajuin Waterfall has more residents compared to the population in Pelaihari City.
"Bajuin Waterfall is located on Mount Buluh, people say it is guarded by a figure of Hanoman," he said.
"The story of the residents used to be a warlord of the Banjar kingdom who had twins. However, his 1 son was asked by a creature from the other side to become a ruler on Mount Buluh and look after Goa which is filled with native swiftlet nests," he continued.
As for the disturbances that are often experienced by residents and traders on these tours, he said there were local residents who wanted to go to tourist sites, at the T-junction before entering or near the halaban tree an appearance of a person with a sharp head appeared.
Also when boiling eggs at the stall, but forget to offer them, the eggs can reduce by themselves.
"If the number of eggs is recalculated, it can change or decrease," he added.
This was confirmed by Niah (45), a trader in the tourist area, who also said that her child often saw the figures of daughters, grandmothers and grandfathers and heard someone calling.
"Once, because they did not offer (Kada Betawaran), and my child often sees and hears because he can be said to have the ability to see spirits," her concluded.
