SynCRETism - Συγκρητισμός
The SynCRETism symposia aim to bring together particle physicists, cosmologists, and astrophysicists, to fuse different approaches on topics of common interest.
They are inspired by and take place on the island of Crete, whose privileged location at the crossroads of three continents rendered it the centre of the first advanced civilisation in Europe. The Minoan civilisation (3500 - 1100 BCE) was notable among else for its art, the higher social status of women in comparison to later civilisations, and the "Minoan peace".
SynCRETism is organised by the École Normale Supérieure, Sorbonne University and the Institute of Astrophysics at FORTH.
