Mary RJ A. Max (Banilad, Batch 2020)

This academic year is my second year being a KALFI LEADer. My time in this program allowed me to experience splendid events, where I got to learn so many things while having fun at the same time. KALFI LEAD opened me to various opportunities and activities that I believe could help me become the best version that I could be. It enabled me to enhance my skills and talents, time management, communication with other people, and comprehension. I had the opportunity to participate in and experience one-on-one mentorship with professional, fun, engaging, and informative activities and conferences, outreach activities, as well as meetings or classes that helped me strengthen my faith and learn more about God. These opened doors for me to know more about myself, interact or build relationships with other people, such as my fellow KALFI LEADers, serve my brothers and sisters with love and joy, and see the smiles of the people I helped. With all these, I am honored to be part of this program, and I felt blessed, happy, and loved for the times I spent here and the learnings and experiences I acquired. And these are some of the experiences and feelings I have had for the past year I am with KALFI LEAD, and I believe that there are more exciting events for us in the future. Hence, thank you, KALFI LEAD, for a fantastic first-year adventure, and I look forward to more experiences, learnings, and interactions with KALFI LEAD.
I remember it like it was yesterday when I attended my KALFI LEAD orientation with my batchmates. Little did I know then that it would be the beginning of an amazing journey with such lovely people. Through them, I have become an entirely different person after experiencing activities such as meditations in the oratory, meaningful encounters with kids in outreach programs, and the insightful modules made available to us. But little did we know as well that our circumstances would change so drastically, and our physical visits to the center would be cut short. Nevertheless, the doors of opportunities for our continued growth remained open in the new online set-up. We continued to hold mentoring sessions, online catechism classes, and batch projects that were relevant to the call of the times. One particularly memorable opportunity that KALFI made possible is the never before imagined inter-center activities with fellow KALFI leaders. In the past year, I got the chance to learn the cultures from young Kenyan women leaders themselves during a get-together. I also became an online camp counselor where I worked with such talented and passionate leaders and presented a research paper as well as gained new perspectives from others during the recent UNIV 2021 Congress. In all these things, I have witnessed so much life and growth. We get to congratulate each other for our successes, seek advice and comfort from our ever-supportive mentors, and pray for each other’s well-being. We are full of activities that bring out in us the virtues of a true K-Leader who embody leadership, excellence, accountability, and discipline. The beauty about KALFI is that we’re given these venues to be the best in all aspects of ourselves: our spiritual lives, our character, our academic endeavors, our personal relationships. As a third year K-Leader, I can attest to the fact that in this family, not only are we surrounded with those with whom we share values, but we also share the loudest laughter, most meaningful experiences, and some of the best memories.

Helena Ruth C. Lapurga (Banilad, Batch 2019)

Jomarie Mojica (Iraya, Batch 2017)

The past four years with KALFI have been a blast. I was able to meet a lot of new people, explore many different places as well as partake in numerous activities that helped shape who I am today. Looking back, I would have never been able to do this if I was not brave enough to step out of my comfort zone and I thank KALFI for letting me realize that. One of the many things that I love about KALFI is that despite coming from different schools, locations, or even backgrounds the people always find a way to meet and chat at the center. At the same time we all get to spend time with each other through the different activities given by the center such as rurals, virtues class, get togethers (baking, watching movies, etc). Besides this, I also cherish the spiritual activities that we get to have in the center such as meditation, confession, spiritual direction and benediction it allows me to deepen my faith and helps me reflect. I am also grateful for the relationships I have formed through the program. I met my mentors and friends who have guided and supported me in this journey. KALFI has left a lasting impact on my life so much so that I try to eagerly give back by applying what I've learnt in all the aspects of my life.
Staying focused and motivated became a challenge for me during the COVID19 pandemic. However, KALFI helped and continues to help me stay anchored to my aspirations and values in life. Through mentoring, I can set goals to deepen my faith and become more capable of serving other people. My mentors are always willing to listen to my plans and give their guidance, suggestions, and support. The lessons I learn from KALFI LEAD online modules and talks also widen my perspective about social topics and youth values. All the formation I get from KALFI helps me improve myself every day and remain grounded at the same time.

Czarina Elaine Mendoza (Tanglaw, Batch 2019)

Rea Sophia Samontina (Tanglaw, Batch 2020)

My favorite thing about KALFI is that it provides me with a concrete way to hone my leadership skills even in the time of the pandemic. Despite being online, I’m still able to listen to inspiring and insightful talks organized by the KALFI centers. I also get to apply my learnings by volunteering in Tanglaw’s Opal High School Girls Club, and in the clubs I join in school. But I think the highlight of the program is mentoring. Through mentoring, I get advice that is tailor-fit to my needs as a student, as a leader, and as a person. Not only that, I also get to bond with my mentor through our regular chikahans, este mentoring sessions.
In the year that I’ve been in KALFI, I can definitely say that I’ve grown in my faith. By attending regular Circle and Meditations, I learned the art of offering up my studies and my work to God so they can be more meaningful. I also learned to feel His presence even in the most mundane settings.
To sum it up, being active in KALFI is a choice I would never regret. With how it has helped me grow in faith and in character, I definitely recommend you to maximize this opportunity too. Hoping to see and meet you in future activities!
Words can’t express how thankful I am towards KALFI. As I look back and remember all the memories we have made together, I would say that I will be forever thankful and grateful to KALFI because of the amazing experiences I have shared with the wonderful people I met (mentors and unexpected fellow girls who also became my friends.) It was still vivid to me when I first encountered KALFI because I do not have any idea what it was all about. But along the process, KALFI made me know myself better and discovered more about what I could do. In fact, This Organization makes things more relevant to the intervention of learning, improving my personal relationship with God and of course helping others genuinely.
To KALFI LEAD, Thank you very much for helping me realize and discover my potential as a leader, student, daughter, and friend towards others. For being the environment of growing & learning. And for the love you have shared with us KALFI Leaders. To the people behind and made this Organization possible, I thank you because you have shaped us what we are right now.
