Kalev Hantsoo Geochemist & Earth Systems Scientist
I study stability and change in Earth surface environments. This includes the analysis of rates and magnitudes of environmental change in the geological past; chemical and microbial changes in present-day coastal environments; and biogeochemical processes that can slow or accelerate change across a wide range of spatial and temporal scales.
Much of my research focuses on the links between the sulfur cycle and the carbon cycle in marine waters and sediments. I use a combination of field work, laboratory geochemical analysis, and numerical modeling to investigate these topics.
