Halloween is the time during the year in which most candy is consumed. In the U.S. during Halloween, 3.6 billion dollars is made from people buying sweet treats. The reasoning for this is because of the tradition of “ Trick or Treat” that people partake in all around the world in unique costumes that can range from cartoon characters to actors.
Halloween Story!

HIKI NŌ on PBS Hawaii did an interview with teachers and staff on Waiakea Highs School campus. Teachers who stay after dark, or sports teams cleaning up after practice, have reported hearing sounds of children giggling or abnormal signs around the campus. Or seeing childrens foot prints and hand prints on walkways. Local historians have said that there is a trail that runs right through the Waiakea high school campus used by warriors to get to and from training grounds. Certain areas on the campus have more activity. Including H building, R building, and the back access roads near Waiakea Intermediate.
In Hilo, I, Emma Kozuma, have had an encounter with a Feiteceira, or the portuguese shape shifting witch. It was 12 o'clock at night. I was driving down to Keaukaha for a beach cruise with my boyfriend. Out of nowhere, we seen a dog appear in the middle of the road. There was a car infront of us when it walked into our line of travel from what seemed to be the side of the road, near the sidewalk. We were both paying attention to our surroundings as we were coasting down Manono St. He walked to the center of the road and stood there causing us to press the breaks and slow down. Something seemed off about that dog as it was staring so hard at us and woudln’t break eye contact. Then is ran off the road in the opposite side it entered from and ran in an inhumane way. The dog was skinny, and its legs seemed to follow unnaturally. As we continued on the road, accelerating to continue to the beaches, I looked back at the dog and it was still staring at us. There were a couple cars driving around. So it was awkward that it chose to look at us.
An unsettling feeling sat with us for the rest of the ride. But as soon as we reached Keaukaha, the feeling we had in our stomachs got worse. As we got closer to Richardson’s more and more awkward instances occurred. Maybe it was our minds playing tricks on us after we had an encounter with a “dog,” but we decided we had enough and should just go home. When we reached home, we felt a lot better as a weight was lifted off our shoulders. That night will forever be in my mind and I can’t explain what happened that night.
