Hello,
My name is Kaleb Stubbs and I was born and raised in Eugene, Oregon. Throughout my childhood, I have always had a diverse group of friends that came from all over the world. I was always curious and fascinated with aspects of other cultures and languages and as I grew older my interest in this area grew along with me. I ended up working for the airport for six years where I travelled to many different countries, exploring and learning about different cultures. After travelling to Japan, I quickly realized my calling to become a language teacher and enrolled at the University of Oregon to pursue a Bachelor's Degree in Linguistics while also studying the Japanese language.
After learning the several nuances of second language acquisition, my passion to teach language began to grow immensely and I continued my schooling in the Language Teaching Studies (LTS) Master's program. It was here that I began implementing my knowledge of language acquisition and language teaching as I starting working at the American English Institute (AEI) and tutored international students in the English language. I also interned for the Center of Applied Second Language Studies (CASLS) where I was given the great opportunity to teach and co-teach classes of my own at the University level. It was here that I understood more deeply how I could connect, teach, and learn with individuals from all over the world and is what sparked my love for language teaching and language acquisition.
This portfolio is an accumulation of my work throughout my journey in the LTS program. Each of the six competencies below dive into a plethora of fascinating studies, research papers, and lesson plans that I have curated over the years. Either click on the buttons of each competency or navigate the website using the drop down menu on the top-left of the page to explore each of the artifacts that I have included. I hope you enjoy the journey just as much as I did as there will be more additions to come in the future.
Thank you and enjoy,
Kaleb Stubbs
