In this project, I explain how social media impacts me and society. I talk about statistics regarding the amount of people using social media.

After I took the social media quiz I learned that I have a healthy relationship with social media
"Congratulations! Psychologists estimate that as many as 5 to 10% of Americans meet the criteria for social media addiction today. But luckily, that's not you! Not checking social media every few minutes doesn't make you feel anxious, as you prefer to live 'in the moment' rather than through your apps. You use social media to your advantage, at work and to connect with friends and family, but you know when to put it away. Keep it up!"
Over the years I've gotten less reliant on social media, there are days that I barely use social media, and then there are days that I use it a lot but I think my current amount of time spent on social media is a decent amount.
A statistic about social media that stood out to me was "Social media use over time" That statistic states that back in 2005 only 5% of American adults used some kind of social media, by 2011, only 6 years later that amount rose to 72%. This statistic stood out to me because I was born in 2005 and as I grew up I was able to watch family, friends, etc beginning to use social media more and more I also have watched some of today's most popular social media apps be created and people using them every day.
I personally think that social media's impact on society has been positive, negative, and important. Social media has greatly impacted my life in a mostly positive way. If it wasn't for social media I wouldn't have the friends that I have now, I wouldn't know as much about the things I love such as cars. Social media helps me and others stay updated with almost everything. There are negatives to social media like the power of scamming through fake accounts, false information being posted, if an app goes down no one can contact anyone on that app or even use that app but I see more positives in social media compared to negatives.
I learned that I use social media a lot less than the average adult which is good but I know that social media can be very addictive so I always want to keep my social media use at a fair amount. I also did not know that the use of social media was only 5% in 2005.
