Your Gateway to the Bharatanatyam Experience
A healer by profession and an artist by passion, Dr. Krishna Tejaswi beautifully balances her role as a Physiotherapist and a Bharatanatyam dancer. Her journey in dance began in the 5th standard under the tutelage of Karnataka Kalashree Guru Dr. Sathyanarayana Raju, and for over two decades she has immersed herself in this divine art form.
With a deep love for Bharatanatyam, Dr. Tejaswi believes in carrying forward this tradition to the next generation. For the past six years, she has been shaping young dancers through personalized training methods that nurture each student’s strengths and learning pace. Her classes are known for weaving together the grace of nritta (pure dance) and the depth of abhinaya (expression), creating a unique and inspiring learning experience.
Her artistry has earned her several honors, including the Best Nimble Foot Award (2013), Best Outgoing Student – Cultural Activities during her bachelor’s degree, and the prestigious title “Naadam Nrityaprabha” at the Nrityakalakeli Dubai International Dance Festival (2018).
Dedicated to constant growth, she has enriched her skills through workshops with legendary performers such as Padmashree Prathibha Prahlad, Late Yamini Krishnamurthy, B.V. Vasanthalakshmi, Padmini Ravi, and through ABHAI (Association of Bharatanatyam Artists of India). She has also specialized in abhinaya through Dr. Lakshmi Ramaswamy’s program “Nuances of Abhinaya.”
Holding a Visharad Degree in Dance from the Akhil Bharatiya Gandharva Mahavidyalaya Mandal, Mumbai, Dr. Tejaswi continues her journey as both a performer and mentor, inspiring students to embrace dance not only as an art, but as a way of life.

BEGINNER LEVEL
(PRARAMBHIK, PRAVESHIKA)
The Prarambhik level is the foundational stage of Bharatanatyam, where students are introduced to the basic steps of dance, known as adavus. Adavus are structured combinations of footsteps, which later incorporate hand gestures (hastas).
At this stage, students are taught basic shlokas and hastas, along with the fundamental forms of movement involving the head, neck, eyes, and legs. These movements are demonstrated and practiced to prepare the student for more advanced and complex sequences.
As students progress, they continue to learn the bhedas (variations) of adavus and are guided to implement them practically. The use of nritta (pure dance) in coordination with rhythm and tala is also introduced, helping students develop precision, grace, and understanding of timing.
CLASS DURATION- 1 HOUR/WEEK
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL (MADHYAMA)
At this stage, students begin to apply all foundational aspects learned in the Prarambhik level to create a complete dance item. They are introduced to more complex adavu combinations, practiced at varying speeds, and learn jathis—structured sequences of adavus set to rhythmic patterns.
Students also explore the integration of nritta (pure dance) with abhinaya (expressive storytelling), learning to convey basic emotions, expressions, and narration through movement.
This stage emphasizes coordination between footwork, rhythm, hand gestures, and facial expressions, helping students transition from foundational techniques to performing cohesive and expressive sequences.
CLASS DURATION- 1 HOUR/WEEK
VISHARAD / ADVANCED LEVEL
At the Visharada (advanced) level, student learns to express emotions and stories through abhinaya (expressions), while combining it with graceful steps (nritta). It helps them understand how beats and rhythm (taala) connect with movement, making every performance confident, expressive, and complete. It is a journey that builds creativity, discipline, and stage presence, preparing children for both cultural appreciation and memorable performances.
