About Kai Lohbeck:
Born in 1981 in Wesel, Germany. Studied Biology at the Universities of Marburg and Kiel, Germany (2002-2009), and the University Centre in Svalbard, Norway (2007). Diploma in Biology from Kiel University in 2009.
PhD student in Prof. Dr. Thorsten Reusch's and Prof. Dr. Ulf Riebesell's labs, working at the interface of Evolutionary Biology and Marine Sciences at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, Germany (2009-2013), PhD in Evolutionary Biology from Kiel University in 2013.
Post-doctoral researcher at GEOMAR Helmholtz Centre for Ocean Research Kiel, Germany, working on experimental evolution in phytoplankton to study adaptation to ocean acidification and warming (2013-2015).
Post-doctoral research fellowship granted by the German Research Foundation (DFG), working with Prof. Dr. Anna Godhe at the University of Gothenburg, Sweden, on adaptive evolution to warming in natural phytoplankton populations (2015-2017).
Post-doctoral researcher in Prof. Dr. Lutz Becks' lab at the Limnological Institute, University of Konstanz, Germany, investigating eco-evolutionary dynamics of algae and their virusus, coevolving in complex environments (2018-2022).
