My research is on the topology of 4-manifolds and how they can support many smooth structures o
I use concordance and Dehn surgery to understand exotic 4-manifolds.
As an undergraduate at the University of Massachusetts Amherst, I worked under R. Inanc Baykur studying Lefschetz fibrations. As a graduate student at the University of Texas Austin, I am advised by Bob Gompf and John Luecke. I am currently working on the exciting project of Manolescu-Piccirillo to disprove the smooth 4-dimensional Poincare conjecture using zero surgery homeomorphisms and Rasmussen's s-invariant.
