Kai Lu is currently an Assistant Professor of Finance at the School of Finance, Shanghai University of Finance and Economics. He previously worked at the School of Management & International Institute of Finance , University of Science and Technology of China. He graduated from Olin Business School, Washington University in St. Louis in 2018. He spends 5-6 months per year at Michael G. Foster School of Business, University of Washington as a finance visiting scholar.
Kai's research papers have been presented at or accepted by major finance conferences such as the WFA, the FIRS, SFS Cavalcade Asia-Pacific and CICF. Kai's research papers have also been presented at conferences organized by the New York Fed, CFPB, FDIC and SEC. Kai’s research focuses on Fintech (P2P lending), behavioral finance, household finance and empirical corporate finance. He is interested in understanding the underlying mechanisms of P2P lending as well as using P2P lending data to answer questions that were empirically challenging previously in traditional finance. He is also interested in empirically characterizing how market participants behave, and understanding the importances (consequences) of these behaviors.
