I am a final year student at Ravensbourne University London, studying for a degree in Computer Animation. I produce 3D digital animations which can be used in films, TV, advertisements and games, using specialist 3D software such as Maya and Premier Pro.
I am familiar with all aspects of animation and specialise in previsualisation (or “previs”). As a visualisation artist in 3D animation, I combine my skill in animation with my background in photography, lighting and camera work.
I have included some of my character performance pieces below to show some of the key principles of animation.
These two pieces are two perspectives of an invasion of a space ship, from the protagonist's and antagonist's point of view. This is based of a chapter in the book "A long way to a small angry planet" where pirates are invading a spaceship.
The first perspective is from the point of view of the Wayfayer Crew (the protagonists). They are travelling and about to pick up a mission when suddently their ship gets invaded by pirates out of nowhere. They don't know how to react to these invaders and the captain of the ship gets too confronation to the pirates, who don't speak the same language as the crew and it causes a fight.
The second perspectives is on the Akaraks, who are shown as the pirates but we get to see that they are just invading the ship for resources but are unable to communicate with the people on the ship as they don't speak the same language.
The focus of this project was on the cinematography of the shots and working out how I wanted to tell the story through lighting and camera work.
I did all the lighting, camera work, animation and sound myself, the only thing I didn't do was make the models and rigs as I found them for free online.
In this Previs piece, I was given a brief to make a psychological horror sequence based on sound.
Here I was working on the camera movements, and lighting to make the scene feel more tense and suspenseful.
I did all of the lighting, camera work, animation and the sounds for this piece.
I didn't make the models or the rigs.
Here, I was working on a fast car chase scene.
I was focused on camera movements and tracking of the cars across the dessert.
Here I was given a brief of a "showdown" between 2 main characters with no sound.
I was focusing on camera movement and tracking a character as well as the cinematography and storytelling.
I did all of the lighting, camera work, animation and the sounds for this piece.
I didn't make the models or the rigs.
This brief was about a chase sequence between two characters.
The brief was to make a city chase scene and therefore I decided to make a story line of a missing shop robot, and the character who is hired to find the robot and bring it back to the shop.
Similar to the previous brief, I was focusing on the cinematography and storytelling of the characters as well as the lighting and camera work in the scene.
I did all of the lighting, camera work, animation and the sounds for this piece.
I didn't make the models or the rigs.
Here I was working on some character performance pieces where a character turns around, focusing on the weight distribution of the character and the arcs of the movements.
This piece was about improving my lip syncing.
Here, I was given an audio as a brief and then had to come up with the idea for the characters in the scene, shoot the reference and animate it.
Here is the process of how I completed it.
