Frame for Blue

A frame that trims through the blue of the horizon.

A sculptural work created for the video work "Frame for Blue". Taking Hatsuo Kiyoshi's abstract painting "Blue" as its subject, we created a window that trims through the blue horizon depicted by the artist. The white box shape floats in order to stand out in the large expanse of space, and the surface is made of rough cedar in order to harmonize with the living landscape of nature.

Video Clip 'Frame for Blue'

Artist, Kiyoshi Hatuo got an appearance of leprocy when he was 21, and he was forced to live in Nagashima, island isolated from the mainland.  He painted an abstract painting 'Deep Blue' in his later years at atelier on the  sea shore. Video Clip is a story of a young who was fascinated by 'Deep Blue' and tried to create a sculputure like window frame to trim the blue of the horizon Kiyoshi saw and drew while he was alive.

We hope you touch the blue of Nagashima through this video filmed in the landscape at Nagashima and building still remains as a heritage.
