Keeping Traditional Art Alive
India is the land of culture and creativity. Each corner of our motherland is blessed with a different unique culture. Handicrafts play a key role representing our culture and tradition. It promotes the heritage of a country using indigenous materials and it preserves traditional knowledge and talents.
The art & crafts is the second largest employment generator after agriculture. According to the 2011 Census there are over 68 lakh artisans in the country, of which 55 percent of them are women. But the matter of great regret is the number of artisans has been dwindling rapidly in the recent past. The National Informatics Centre attributed the dire state of the handicraft industry to inaccessibility of funds, low penetration of technology, absence of market intelligence, and poor institutional framework of artisan groups. Traditional Indian handcrafts relies on the tireless efforts of the artisans who put their heart and soul to keep the history and heritage alive. But despite different government initiatives to support artisans of the country, it’s not enough for the artisans.
KAARUK India is one of a kind unique platform with a primary goal to provide constant support to artisans to get exposure and achieve upliftment which usually they are deprived of. At Kaaruk India we have already managed to collaborate with authentic traditional artisans from different parts of the country who were getting good support.
