After graduating from Nevada Union High School in Grass Valley, California, I attended the University of California, San Diego. In 2019, I graduated with a B.S. in Joint Mathematics/Economics with a minor in Mathematics Education. I continued my education at UCSD as a graduate student and earned a M.Ed. and Single Subject Mathematics Teaching Credential in 2020. I have studied mathematical analysis, statistics, and micro/macroeconomics and trained in action research, education technology, mathematics pedagogy, inclusive education (MTSS, UDL, RTI), multilingual learner instruction (SDAIE), and social-emotional learning
The majority of my teaching experience has taken place in diverse communities in San Diego, California. I currently teach 11th grade math (Integrated III) at High Tech High International. During the 2019-2020 school year, I student-taught 7th & 8th Grade Common Core Math at Bethune K-8 School. In 2018-2019, I was an apprentice teacher for Integrated Math I & II at Mira Mesa High School. During the summers of 2016 and 2017, I worked with 3rd–5th grade students as a teaching assistant for a summer learning program in my hometown.
As is natural for someone who grew up in a rural area, I love to be outside (camping, hiking, and climbing). In my down time, I like to cook, walk my dog, and play games with friends. I am an avid podcast listener—my favorite topics include news/politics, education, business, and economics—and I also enjoy reading books on these topics. During high school and college, I played lacrosse and was heavily involved in student government/leadership.
