I enjoy all kinds of arts, especially paintings. To name just a few...
M.C. Escher
The perspective of relative directions in space with reference to his distinctive man-faced pigeons, the wheatfield and sky divided into tilings with transitions from daylight white birds to nighttime black birds, his two hands emerging out of a sketch paper, his line of crocodiles walking out of their own tilings... are all so inspiring and mathematically interesting.
Salvador Dali
One of my favourites, and my first encounter with the world of surrealism, is his Metamorphosis of Narcissus (left) at Tate Modern.
Although the initial aim of surrealism was to eliminate any mechanical control of minds and to dive into unconsciousness, Dali's work seems to lure us to accept whatever his symbols mean (usually sex and desire). His "paranoiac-critical method", a spontaneous approach to knowledge, renders structures and landscapes soft and melting.
Pablo Picasso
I also create my own arts, inspired by my research, my readings, people I met, nature and so on.
