If you want open-ear listening for work, choose JVC nearphones Open Ear; if you need TV-focused headphones with independent left- and right-ear volume, choose PROW TV Headphones. JVC is the more flexible pick for staying aware of nearby sounds, while PROW is built around a TV connection and straightforward listening at home. For work, I’d choose JVC unless your main need is watching television with separate volume adjustment for each ear.
• JVC nearphones Open Ear: Open-ear fit, a pivoting hook, and up to 26 hours with the charging case. The trade-off is that it is not designed as a dedicated TV transmitter system.
• PROW TV Headphones: Independent left/right volume, large physical controls, and connections for compatible TV audio outputs. The trade-off is that it cannot pair with a phone over Bluetooth.
• Choose JVC for work, casual listening, and situations where hearing some surroundings matters.
• Choose PROW for TV watching, especially if you want separate volume adjustment for each ear.
• Both offer wireless listening, but their connection methods and intended uses are quite different.
JVC’s defining feature is its open-ear design: the earpieces do not block the ear canals. That can make sense when you want music or audio while remaining more aware of what is happening nearby. The pivot-motion hooks are intended to help the lightweight earbuds stay in place, and the 16 mm drivers provide the audio hardware behind the listening experience. There are three sound modes—Normal, Bass, and High—along with touch controls.
For work, this is the more natural fit if your day includes listening while staying alert to people speaking or activity around you. The design also suits walks and other everyday listening where awareness of approaching vehicles is useful. The advertised battery life is up to 26 hours with the charging case, and the earbuds support single-ear use, which gives you another way to keep one ear free.
How We Research
We compare products from their published specs and features; the verdicts below are our independent editorial opinions.

PROW is aimed at television listening rather than all-purpose Bluetooth use. Its semi-in-ear headphones work with the included USB transmitter and support TV connections through USB, optical, 3.5 mm, or RCA audio outputs. That range can be useful if your TV has one of those ports and you want a dedicated wireless listening setup. Check your TV’s available outputs first: this model does not connect through a TV’s Bluetooth audio output or pair with a mobile phone.
Its standout practical feature is independent left- and right-ear volume adjustment. That gives listeners a way to balance the two sides separately instead of having to raise or lower both together. Large raised volume controls and an oversized power button also make it a reasonable option for anyone who prefers tactile, easy-to-locate controls. The headphones include voice prompts, and they remember the last volume setting. Battery life is listed as up to 20 hours, with a two-hour charging time.
PROW makes more sense for home viewing than for general work listening. It weighs 50 grams total and uses a semi-open fit, which may appeal to someone who finds conventional over-ear headphones awkward while reclining. But I would skip it for work calls, phone listening, or walking around with a Bluetooth-connected device: it is not a general-purpose Bluetooth headset, despite the wireless connection between the headphones and their transmitter. The product information also says it is not intended for people who need hearing-aid-level amplification.
• Best for work while staying aware of nearby sounds → JVC nearphones Open Ear. Its open-ear construction does not block the ear canal, and the product is described as allowing surrounding sounds through.
• Best for TV with separate left/right volume → PROW TV Headphones. That adjustment is central to its design and may be particularly useful when one side needs a different level.
• Best for use with a phone over Bluetooth → JVC nearphones Open Ear. It uses Bluetooth 5.4; PROW cannot pair with a mobile phone.
• Best for a dedicated TV connection → PROW TV Headphones. It includes a USB transmitter and supports USB, optical, 3.5 mm, and RCA audio connections, subject to your TV’s outputs.
• Best stated battery-life figure → JVC nearphones Open Ear. Its listed total is up to 26 hours with the charging case, compared with PROW’s up to 20 hours.
• Best for tactile, easy-to-find controls → PROW TV Headphones. It has large buttons and voice prompts; JVC uses touch controls.
• Best for single-ear listening → JVC nearphones Open Ear. Single-ear use is explicitly supported.
• Best for a semi-in-ear fit while watching TV → PROW TV Headphones. Its shape is designed for TV listening without a conventional over-ear headband.
A shopper searching for the best hifi stereo gaming headphones for work may be starting from the wrong category: neither product’s listed features establish it as a dedicated gaming headset. JVC is the more adaptable choice for everyday audio, but the available information does not specify gaming features such as a microphone or gaming-focused controls. PROW’s strengths are TV compatibility and separate ear-volume adjustment, not general gaming use.
Likewise, “memory foam ear cushions bone conduction headphones for work” describes features that neither product lists. JVC is open-ear, but the data does not identify it as bone-conduction hardware or mention memory foam cushions. PROW is semi-in-ear and has no listed memory foam cushions. If those specific construction details are essential, neither is a confirmed match.
The same caution applies to the phrase best sports earbuds for work. JVC’s open-ear fit, pivoting hooks, and IPX4 rating may make it more relevant to active everyday use than PROW’s TV-oriented setup. But the supplied information does not establish either as a specialized sports product. Choose JVC for the features it actually offers, not for unlisted sport-specific performance.
For work, I would choose JVC nearphones Open Ear. Its open-ear design, single-ear option, Bluetooth connection, and up-to-26-hour battery figure make it the more flexible match for listening while remaining aware of your surroundings. PROW is the clearer choice if your priority is TV watching with independent left/right volume and tactile controls. I would not buy PROW expecting it to double as a Bluetooth phone headset.
No. The product information says PROW cannot pair with a mobile phone over Bluetooth. It is designed to receive audio through its included TV transmitter and supported TV audio connections.
For general work listening, I’d choose JVC because it uses Bluetooth and has an open-ear design that lets surrounding sound reach you. PROW is a better fit when the work need is specifically listening to a compatible TV.
Can I adjust the left and right volume separately?
JVC lists up to 26 hours with its rechargeable case. PROW lists up to 20 hours of playback and a two-hour charging time. Those are stated figures, not a guarantee of the same runtime in every use.
