Colóquio Virtual Filosofia, Estética e Juventude

Entender a juventude é questão premente para um país em desenvolvimento. O “Colóquio Filosofia, Estética e Juventude” procura colocar, com certa originalidade, um problema filosófico pouco explorado, reunindo pesquisadoras e pesquisadores do Brasil e do exterior. Trata-se de pensar filosoficamente a juventude. Certamente, aí, muitas possibilidades se abrem: em primeiro lugar, a relação entre juventude e formação, para o que a filosofia da educação, mas também a filosofia da história e a filosofia política podem ser especialmente conclamadas. Não raro o jovem está no centro das discussões sobre a formação do indivíduo, das sociedades e principalmente sobre a criatividade da ação, seja por obra da imaginação e da inovação linguística, conceitual e tecnológica, seja por obra das energias de protesto e revolta. Um fenômeno em específico, contudo, chama atenção: na história da filosofia, não foram poucos os pensadores que, em sua juventude, encontraram na reflexão sobre a arte ou os sentimentos a chave de compreensão dos problemas filosóficos. O jovem Hegel, o jovem Nietzsche, o jovem Lukács, etc., são exemplos emblemáticos desta tendência, encontrada também em diversas tradições. Será isto sintoma de alguma relação intrínseca entre filosofia, estética e juventude? Por que alguns desses pensadores abandonaram a perspectiva estética em seu pensamento de maturidade? E em nome de que outra coisa a abandonaram? Do naturalismo científico, da mística, da religião, da ação prática? Poderíamos apontar também contraposições a esta tendência, como é o caso de Heidegger e Adorno, na tradição continental, ou Arthur Danto e Nelson Goodman, na tradição analítica, que se inclinaram mais enfaticamente para a estética ou a reflexão sobre a arte apenas na maturidade ou, no caso de Kant, já na velhice. Neste sentido, pensar a juventude também abre caminho para pensar, correspondentemente, a maturidade. E, da mesma maneira, a relação inicialmente sugerida entre filosofia, estética e juventude não é exclusiva. Pelo contrário, convida a pensar aquelas outras coisas que parecem poder cumprir, no adulto e no ancião, as promessas da arte: religião, política, sabedoria.

Virtual Conference Philosophy, Aesthetics, and Youth

Understanding youth is a crucial issue for a developing country. The Virtual Conference Philosophy, Aesthetics, and Youth aims to pose, with a certain originality, a little explored philosophical problem, bringing together researchers from Brazil and abroad. It is about thinking youth philosophically. Certainly, many possibilities are open up: in the first place, the relationship between youth and formation, for which philosophy of education, but also philosophy of history and political philosophy can be especially called for. The young are often at the core of discussions about formation of the individuals and societies, mainly connected with the creativity of action, whether through imagination, linguistic, conceptual and technological innovation, or through the energies of protest and revolt. One specific phenomenon, however, draws attention: in the history of philosophy, there were many thinkers who in their youth found in art and sentiments the key to philosophical thinking. The young Hegel, the young Nietzsche, and the young Lukács are emblematic examples of this trend, which is also found in different traditions. Is this a symptom of some intrinsic relationship between philosophy, aesthetics, and youth? Why did some of these thinkers abandon aesthetic perspectives of philosophical problems in their mature thinking? And for the sake of what did they abandon it? Of scientific naturalism, mysticism, religion, practical action? We could also point out an opposition to this trend, as in the case of Heidegger and Adorno, in the continental tradition, or Arthur Danto and Nelson Goodman, in the analytic tradition, who leaned more emphatically towards aesthetics or reflection on art only in their maturity or, in the case of Kant, in their old age. In this sense, thinking about youth also opens the way to think correspondingly about maturity. And, in the same sense, the relationship initially suggested between philosophy, aesthetics, and youth is not exclusive. On the contrary, it invites us to think about those other things that seem to fulfill, in adults and in the elderly, the promises of art: religion, politics, wisdom.
