To begin our time together, I will need a solid writing sample so that I know who you are and how you write. After your submission of the assignment, I will respond with comments on your document. If you find these helpful and would like to continue the instruction, the next lesson will be assigned after the $100 subscription to the Course is paid. See below for the instructions for the Writing Sample as well as directions on how to submit.
Writing Sample Instructions - FREE
- Since this is a writing sample for me to evaluate where we are beginning with your writing instruction, just follow the 2 broad instructions below and do your best, and we'll continue from there.
- Write 2 or 3 paragraphs telling me what you think is one of your greatest accomplishments in your life so far.
- Use specific examples to deepen the meaning of the accomplishment you are sharing.
The Details
- For this and future Lessons, you may want to write your first draft on a piece of paper and then type up what you've written into your Google Doc.
- If you're new to typing on a Google Doc, follow the step by step tips on this linked Google Docs Tips Sheet.

- I've also included complete written instructions for signing up for a gmail account, so feel free to scroll down to the area on the Google Docs Tips Sheet that you will need.
Each successive Lesson (1-5) after this Introduction-Writing Sample will be organized in a similar fashion:
- Description of the type of writing - paragraph, personal narrative, expository, argument, and imaginative narrative
- General Instructions for how to complete the writing task
- The Details of what should be included in your writing (with proper resources available)
A link to each new Lesson will be shared within the feedback I leave on your previous writing assignment. For example, when you submit this Introduction-Writing Sample, I will leave feedback and then share the link to the page for the next lesson: Lesson 1-Paragraph Writing.
